Multinational film production
Star Wars The Force Awakens is produced by Lucasfilm, Bad Robot Productions and The Imaginarium and is distributed by Walt Disney studios. The film is directed by JJ Abrams and produced by Kathleen Kennedy, JJ Abrams and Bryan Burk. The film was written by Lawrence Kasdan, JJ Abrams and Michael Ardt. The music was produced by John Williams and the Cinematography is by Dan Mindel. Finally the film is edited by Maryann Brandon and Mary Jo Markey.
In May of 2013 it was confirmed that the film was to be filmed in the UK, The UK government decided to put £31.6 million towards the film to "Boost British culture and the film industry". In September Bad Robot spaces were converted and a costume designer, editors, cinematographer and other crew members were confirmed. Along with this casting began in August and finished in 2014.
It was announced in February 2014 that filming would comence in May and would be based out off Pinewood studios UK and in Iceland and UAE. It was also filmed in 35mm film and some in 65mm IMAX and filming was concluded in November.
The music for the film composed by John Williams began in June 2015 and was finished by November.

Walt Disney Motion Pictures is an American film distributor owned by the Disney company. Established in 1953, the company handles theatrical distribution, marketing and production along with promotion. It does this for all of Disney's subsidiaries including Walt Disney pictures, Walt Disney animation, Pixar, Marvel and Lucasfilm.
